The award amount is $1,310, aimed at fostering kindness and love for animals that Dahni Jo exemplified.Overview
Dahni Jo Memorial Scholarship Annual scholarship in loving memory of Dahni Jo Shanafelt created by her family and friends to enable her spirit to live on through community and educational activities that help animals and others. Dahni Jo was a kindergartner at Highland Elementary School. Dahni Jo and her mother died in April 2020 due to carbon monoxide poisoning. She was a vibrant little girl who had an infectious smile, welcoming eyes, and a very outgoing personality. Everyone who met Dahni Jo remembered her funny ways, friendliness, and her hugs – she hugged almost everyone she met! Dahni Jo loved animals and helped her aunt with foster dogs, puppies, kittens, and bunnies. She could be found many Saturdays at PetSmart helping with the animals up for adoption with Another Chance for Animals. Another favorite Saturday activity was to go to Evansville Animal Care and Control. Dahni Jo loved giving the shelter dogs treats, petting the cats, and helping in any way she could. To keep Dahni Jo’s memory alive, a scholarship has been created. We are reminded to be happy, share a smile, be kind to animals, and love everyone we meet! Award Amount $1,310 (multiple scholarships may be awarded from this amount) Application Access Code vcfEligibility
