DACAMERA Young Artist Program

Overview: A chamber music fellowship program for emerging professional instrumentalists, singers, and composers.

Goal: Encourage musicians to develop the skills necessary to become passionate, forward-thinking, and community-focused "citizen artists" who reimagine traditional notions of music-making and embrace contributing to society through the transformative power of their art and proactive social engagement.

Geographic Scope: Houston, Texas area

Program Activities:

  • Exciting variety of performances, workshops, and school visits

  • Performances at venues including: Wortham Center, The Menil Collection, Museum of Fine Arts Houston, area hospitals, and libraries

  • Principal teaching artists for DACAMERA's Music Encounters program

  • Participation in master classes with renowned guest artists
  • Eligibility: Emerging professional instrumentalists, vocalists, and composers

    Current Young Artists (2025-2026): The program includes 21 fellows across various instruments and vocal genres including jazz voice, violin, piano, cello, bassoon, mezzo-soprano, jazz bass, harp, viola, clarinet, flute, double bass, percussion, and composition.
