CPPS Heritage Mission Fund - General Grants

Funder: Sisters of the Precious Blood, Dayton, Ohio

Geographic Scope: United States and international organizations (with U.S. sponsor requirement)

Mission: The CPPS Heritage Mission Fund responds to requests for financial support for programs and projects that promote the values of Precious Blood Spirituality, dignity of all life, healing and reconciliation, solidarity with the poor, the common good and meeting the unmet needs of the time.

    Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be a 501(c)(3) non-profit in the United States or equivalent designation in foreign country
  • If covered under USCCB group exemption, must submit copy of exemption letter and USCCB directory listing
  • Foreign organizations must have a relationship with a U.S. 501(c)(3) sponsor willing to accept and distribute funds (organization must find own sponsor)
  • Must meet CHM Fund priorities and values
  • Must submit complete and current financial statements (full fiscal year; no less than 12 months of data)
  • Applications and LOIs must be submitted in English; financial statements in U.S. dollars
  • If previously funded, must have submitted report before applying again
  • Cannot fund expenses incurred prior to grant approval
  • Only one request per organization per grant cycle
  • If awarded grant in current cycle, must wait one year before applying again (new requirement beginning 2026)
  • Organizations not awarded may apply the following year

    Grant Requirements (Beginning 2026)

  • Salary Support: Up to 50% of salary or maximum $50,000 of total salary request; organization must show where other 50% comes from
  • Capital Requests: Must submit at least one quote/bid for building project or equipment purchase
  • One Request Per Cycle: Only one request per organization to allow more organizations to be funded

How to Apply

Application Process

Overview: Two-stage application process consisting of Letter of Inquiry (LOI) and full application (by invitation only)

#### Stage 1: Letter of Inquiry (LOI)

Submission Timeline (2026-2027 cycle):

  • Due: Second Tuesday in January, 2027 (1/12/2027) — 2-hour window only

  • Time Window: Noon - 2pm Eastern Time U.S. (9am - 11am Pacific)

  • Status: LOI submission window for 2026 has closed
  • Required Information for LOI:

    1. Organization Information
    - Organization name and 501(c)(3) status/tax ID
    - Mailing address, contact person, email, phone
    - If USCCB group exemption: copy of exemption letter and USCCB directory listing
    - If foreign organization: letter from U.S. 501(c)(3) sponsor (include sponsor tax ID#, address, contact person, email, and statement of willingness to accept/distribute funds)

    2. Financial Documentation
    - Latest full fiscal year financial statements (for January LOI, submit 2024 statements if calendar fiscal year; if invited to full application, may submit 2025 statements)
    - Must be complete and correct
    - All in U.S. dollars
    - No less than 12 months of financial data accepted

    3. Narrative Content (character limits include spaces):
    - Mission Statement: 750 characters
    - Purpose of Proposal Request: 500 characters
    - Guiding Values: How this proposal supports CHM Fund values — 200 characters
    - Anticipated Results: How many individuals will be served and specific benefits — 300 characters
    - Request Category: Select from: Addiction/Substance Abuse; Adult and/or Child Services; Capital Punishment/Death Penalty; Construction and/or Equipment Purchase; Criminal Justice; Education Programs/Job Training; Food Support; Homeless Support; Human Trafficking; Immigration; Life Improvement; Medical Services/Health & Wellness; Operating Support for Organization; Restorative Justice; Other (specify)

    4. Previous Grant Reporting
    - If organization received CHM Fund grant previously, must submit final or interim report along with or prior to LOI

    LOI Submission Requirements:

  • Must be complete and submitted in full to be considered

  • No registration or prior access allowed before link goes live

  • Must register as "New User" for each cycle (logins deleted after each cycle for security)

  • Will receive automatic reply confirming successful submission

  • ALL LOIs submitted within 2-hour window will be considered (no need to rush)
  • #### Stage 2: Full Application (By Invitation Only)

    Invitation Timeline:

  • Notifications Sent: First Friday in March (3/6/2026)

  • Invited organizations receive email with link to appropriate grant application form

  • Non-selected organizations also notified by email
  • Full Application Submission:

  • Due: Third Friday in March (3/27/2026)

  • Timeline: Invited organizations have 3 weeks to complete and submit

  • Must include updated financial statements for latest full fiscal year (may now include 2025 if fiscal year allows)

  • Application form will be made available via secure link upon invitation
  • #### Timeline Summary

  • January 13, 2026 (2-hour window): LOI submissions

  • March 6, 2026: LOI decisions and invitations to apply sent

  • March 27, 2026: Full applications due

  • Late September 2026: Board approval decision (no later than last Saturday in September)

  • Late September/Early October 2026: Grantees notified (around 9/29/2026)

  • October 9, 2026: Checks and grant letters mailed

  • End of Year 2026: Checks must be deposited

  • February 28 (following year): Final reports due (one year after grant awarded or end of project, whichever comes first)
  • Important Notes:

  • DEADLINES ARE FIRM for both LOI and applications

  • Cannot pay for expenses incurred prior to request approval; grant period must begin AFTER Board approval

  • Must complete registration for each form (LOI form, application form, report form) even if registered in previous cycles

  • Applicants will be notified of Board decision by October 1, 2026

  • Reporting Requirement: Final reports due one year after grant awarded or at end of project/program (whichever comes first)

  • Reports must be submitted before requesting additional funding
