About the Scholarships Program Coral Gables Community Foundation is honored to partner with our fundholders to administer generous scholarships as well as manage the Foundation’s own scholarship funds. The Foundation and its fundholders have proudly awarded over $2.9 million in scholarships in just the last decade. Most scholarships offered through the Foundation’s scholarship program are based on academic achievement and financial need. Coral Gables Community Foundation Four-Year Scholarship Established by the Coral Gables Community Foundation’s Board of Directors in 2015, this 4-year scholarship is given annually to students who have demonstrated overall academic achievement and dedication to service within the school and in his/her community. The Foundation also considers applicants’ financial need and personal experiences. Value The value of the Scholarship is up to $10,000 over the course of up to 4 years. The scholarship is distributed in installments of up to $2,500 per year. Checks are sent directly from the Coral Gables Community Foundation to the bursar’s office of the recipient’s college or university. Maintenance In order to maintain the scholarship each year, the recipient must Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA throughout his/her college studies. Attend an accredited college or university and be enrolled full-time. Send transcripts to the Foundation upon the completion of each academic year.

Scholarship CriteriaOverall minimum GPA of 3.0 in high school (un-weighted GPA, a.k.a. “State” GPA on your transcript) Attends Coral Gables Senior High School and has for at least two years Plans to enroll as a full-time undergraduate student in post secondary community college, vocational, technical school or state or private four-year college or university Personal Statement of Financial Need Summary of Community Service Activities Recommendation from a counselor, teacher, coach, mentor or supervisor in a job/project. New format: You provide an e-mail for the person giving the reference. They get a link and type or paste just 500 words about you and why you deserve the scholarship. Your application is due March 3rd but they have until March 10th to submit it. Essay: “Have there been obstacles you have overcome or events you have experienced that have helped define who you are or what you want, which you would like the Scholarship Committee to be aware of when reviewing your application?” Student Aid Index (SAI) number from your FAFSA student financial aid application.Rules for all Applicants Be living in the United States, Puerto Rico, Guam or Canada Be graduating high school seniors (U.S., Puerto Rico and Guam), graduating from grade 12 or graduating from home school education in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Guam or Canada Plan to enroll full-time, without interruption, for the entire 2024-25 academic year at an accredited four-year college, university or vocational-technical school in the United States. After an award is made, for any multi year scholarship the student must submit their college transcript (unofficial is OK) at the end of each year to trigger the release of a payment for the second year. Student must be passing all classes that they attempted, and they must have a 3.0 GPA or better (Some scholarships include stricter standards for renewal).
