Overview:
United Way Quad Cities awards Community Impact Grants to nonprofits, grassroots organizations and others serving residents in Scott and Rock Island counties. Last year United Way awarded nearly $3 million to 51 organizations working to advance equity.

Focus Areas:
Grants advance three interconnected impact areas aligned with Rise United 2030 goals:

    Education

  • Goal: Help more students graduate high school prepared to succeed in college or career
  • Key Levers:
  • - Increase to 90% the number of Quad Cities students reading on grade level by third grade - Double the achievement rate for Black and Hispanic students to close the racial gap
  • Strategies Include: Early childhood development, academic success, success after high school

    Income

  • Goal: Quad Cities families are financially stable
  • Key Lever: Increase by 20% the number of Quad Cities young adults who earn a living wage
  • Strategies Include: Stabilization services and basic needs, career pathways, financial capability

    Health

  • Goal: Quad Citizens are living happy, productive, healthy lives
  • Key Lever: Increase to 95% the number of Quad Citizens who have routine access to affordable health care
  • Strategies Include: Primary and clinical care, behavioral and mental health, health promotion

Eligibility:

  • Nonprofits with 501(c)(3) IRS status

  • 170(b)(1)(A) public institutions

  • Grassroots organizations

  • Social entrepreneurs

  • Organizations serving Scott and Rock Island counties
  • Application Process:
    Competitive, rigorous application review led by panels of community volunteers (over 100 volunteers participate)

  • Demonstrate alignment with Rise United 2030 goals and one or more of the three impact areas (Education, Income, or Health)

  • Address specific outcomes and indicators within the 8 strategies and 65 outcomes framework

  • Show how organization's work strengthens education, income, and/or health to create lasting change
