COVID-19 Rebuilding Fund Grants

Overview:
United Way Quad Cities established the COVID-19 Rebuilding Fund to provide emergency grants to nonprofits helping meet residents' emerging and evolving pandemic-related needs. As of mid-2021, 41 grants totaling $359,538 had been distributed.

Funding Distribution:
Grants provided resources across three impact areas:

  • Education: Remote learning support, mentoring for at-risk youth

  • Income: Skills and resources for workers impacted by COVID-related layoffs, employment support

  • Health: Mental health support, shelter costs

  • Alternatives: $9,000 (transitions from hospital to home for older adults)

  • Davenport Community School District: $13,463 (contact tracing)

  • Dress for Success Quad Cities: $14,875 (skills/resources for COVID-impacted women)

  • Family Resources Inc.: $15,000 (shelter costs)

  • One Eighty: $6,465 (in-person tutoring)

  • QC Haven of Hope: $5,735 (shelter costs)

  • Quad Cities Community Broadcasting Group: $15,000 (public service announcements)

  • YouthHope: $10,000 (remote learning support)
  • Funding Criteria:
    Review committees evaluated organizations' abilities to:

  • Provide essential needs (food, shelter, hygiene items) for vulnerable populations

  • Get kids back on track for learning and school success

  • Address immediate economic impact and employment

  • Ensure health and emotional wellness for children and adults
