    Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be a non-profit organization in good standing with the IRS
  • Must serve communities within LPEA's service territory
  • Request limit: Up to $3,000 or less per non-profit organization
  • Frequency restriction: Have not received a Community Impact Grant within the last 24 months

    What They Do NOT Fund

  • For-profit organizations
  • Non-specific operating expenses (salary, rent, overhead assistance)
  • Payment for LPEA utility bills

Funding Source

Funded by LPEA member "Round Up" contributions (members round up their electric bills to the next dollar; average contribution $6.00/year or $0.50/month). Members can also select "Round Up Plus" for additional monthly contributions.

How to Apply

Application Process

1. Complete Online Web Form at lpea.coop/grant-programs
2. Submit by: First business day of each month for consideration at that month's board meeting

Required Information to Include

  • Specific Request: Clearly state the exact amount requested and detailed explanation of intended use
  • Bids: If requesting funds for item purchase or repair, include 2-3 competitive bids
  • - At least one bid should be from a vendor/supplier in the La Plata Electric service territory if possible
  • Funding Sources: List all other funding sources available; outline which sources you are pursuing, amounts requested, and amounts already awarded
  • - Foundation encourages applicants to pursue multiple funding sources
  • Financial Documentation: Include the organization's most recent financial statement OR project/program-specific budget
  • Organization Names: List all names under which the organization has applied for funding support

Post-Grant Requirements (if funded)

Organization must be willing to:

  • Submit digital photographs of items purchased/events held using Round Up grant

  • Provide testimonial describing how the Round Up grant helped the organization

  • Enroll five (5) new Round Up members

  • Explain how Round Up marketing materials were distributed to organization members

  • Complete and submit Post Grant Report with specific details
  • Timeline After Submission

    • Applications reviewed in the same month submitted (if complete)
    • Decision notification provided when ready
    • Organizations contacted regarding funding decisions
