Community Action Fund

The Community Action Fund (CAF) provides modest, urgent response funding to direct action and frontline organizing across Turtle Island (North America) and related Island Nations.

Geographic Scope: United States, Mexico, Canada, Borikén/Puerto Rico, and U.S. Territories (American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, U.S. Virgin Islands)

Focus Areas:

• Community organizing
• Amplification of community voices
• Climate justice and racial equity efforts
• Challenging the extractive industry
• Accelerating just energy transition in Indigenous communities
• Healing justice work within the movement
• Training the next generation of community organizers
• Defense, development, and decolonization of Indigenous peoples and the planet

Eligibility:

• Groups and individuals most impacted by local challenges
• Frontline, grassroots, and community-based efforts
• Indigenous activists and organizers

Award Details:

• $500,000 available in 2023
• Grants average $15,000 and range up to $30,000
• Available on ongoing basis as funds are available
