Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Residency Program - 12-Month Full-Time

Program Type: Professional education and certification program for chaplaincy

Duration: 12 months, 3 units of CPE

Start Date: Early September to late August

  • Eligibility Requirements:

    Education:

  • Preference given to students with at least 36 hours of theological education toward a master's degree

  • May consider applicants with equivalent combination of mentoring and experience according to faith tradition that meets board certification standards
  • Experience:

  • Must have one prequalifying CPE Unit (ACPE preferred)
  • Work Authorization:

  • Must be fully authorized to work in chosen jurisdiction when applying

  • Mercy does not provide visa sponsorship
  • Compensation & Benefits:

  • Stipend provided

  • Paid Time Off (PTO) accrued and applicable to holidays, sick days, and vacations

  • Accredited since 1974 through USCCB/CCA

  • Continue between units and over holidays

    - Financial payment plans may be arranged in advance with CPE program coordinator and faculty approval
