Heart of FIRE Scholarship - Student Scholarships

Purpose

Award scholarships to students (8th Grade & High School Seniors) who attend FIRE partner schools and have demonstrated commitment to the philosophy of inclusive Catholic education

    Eligibility

  • Grade Levels: 8th Grade students and High School Seniors
  • School Requirement: Must attend FIRE partner school located within Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph boundaries
  • Selection Criteria: Must demonstrate commitment to helping classmates diagnosed with learning challenges through:
  • - Friendship - Academic support - Peer mentorship

    Award Categories

  • At least one (1) scholarship to a graduating senior who demonstrates commitment to helping classmates with learning challenges
  • One or more (1+) scholarship(s) to graduating 8th graders planning to attend a Catholic high school who demonstrate commitment to helping classmates with learning challenges

  • Portion of FIRE Foundation's annual budget is earmarked for student scholarships

How to Apply

Application Process

1. Obtain Application: Applications are available from:
- FIRE Office directly
- Principal's Office of the FIRE Partner school the student attends

2. Required Materials:
- Completed scholarship application form
- Student essay (specific prompts not provided in source material)
- Teacher recommendation letter from a teacher who has observed the student supporting a peer with intellectual or developmental disability

3. Submission: Submit through your school's Principal's Office or directly to FIRE Office

4. Review: FIRE Board member committee reviews applications and responds
