Classified School Employee Summer Assistance Program Grant

The Classified School Employee Summer Assistance Program (CSESAP) aims to support classified school employees in California by providing a dollar-for-dollar match on withheld pay during the 2022-23 school year. This program, funded by the California Department of Education, allows local educational agencies to assist eligible employees with their summer income, ensuring financial support as they prepare for the upcoming school year. A total of $60 million is allocated for this initiative.

The Classified School Employee Summer Assistance Program (CSESAP) provides up to a dollar for dollar match on amounts withheld from a participating local educational agency's (LEA's) classified school employees' monthly paychecks during the 2026-27 school year. The classified employees' pay withheld and the state match funds will be paid by LEAs to the LEA's eligible employees in the summer months following the 2026-27 school year.

Eligibility

Local educational agencies are eligible to apply.School districts and county offices of education that elect to participate must notify their classified school employees by the specified dates.Classified school employee eligibility requirements also apply and are described Education Code Section 45500.
