Overview
Chuck Kraft Scholarship
Overview: The Chuck Kraft Scholarship was created to acknowledge the first board chair of HandsOn NWNC for his leadership during the establishment of the organization, and for his dedication and service to children and youth throughout his career with nonprofits.
Award: Full tuition for one staff or board member currently serving a children and/or youth centered nonprofit
Geographic Scope: Forsyth, Davie, Davidson, Stokes, Surry or Yadkin County, North Carolina
Eligible Programs: Scholarship covers full tuition to attend one of the following:
Eligibility
- Must be a current staff or board member of a nonprofit in Forsyth, Davidson, Davie, Stokes, Surry or Yadkin County
- Nonprofit must serve children and/or youth
- Nonprofit must be classified as tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) by the IRS
- Preference given to staff and board members of nonprofits with a relationship with HandsOn NWNC
- Previous recipients cannot reapply
Scholarship Payment
- HandsOn NWNC will enroll the scholarship recipient in the program of their choice at the next starting date
- Recipient will not be responsible for any costs
- No exchange of funds between HandsOn NWNC and the recipient or their organization
Requirements
- Scholarship recipient must attend all classes that are part of the selected program
- HandsOn NWNC will confirm the start and end dates
Application Review and Notification
- Competitive scholarship reviewed by a peer committee
- Emphasis placed on applicant's commitment to children/youth and potential impact on applicant and organization
- Scholarship recipient announced at the annual Forsyth County Governor's Volunteer Service Awards Breakfast in the spring

1. Complete the online application form (available on handsonnwnc.org/scholarships/)
2. Application will be reviewed by a peer committee
3. Emphasis will be placed on:
- Applicant's commitment to children and/or youth
- Potential impact of the program on applicant and organization
4. Scholarship recipient will be announced at the annual Forsyth County Governor's Volunteer Service Awards Breakfast in the spring
