PGY1 Community-based Pharmacy Residency Program

Status: Accredited by the American Society of Health-system Pharmacists (ASHP) in partnership with the American Pharmacists Association (APhA)

Geographic Scope: North Carolina (multiple sites)

Program Duration: 54 weeks, starting June 15 and concluding June 30 the following year

Focus Areas:

  • Patient-centered care in community pharmacy settings

  • Practice management and advancement

  • Teaching and education

  • Medication therapy management (MTM)
  • Eligibility:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree required

  • Eligible for North Carolina pharmacist licensure

  • Will not sponsor nonimmigrant or immigrant status

    Interview Process

    • Phase I: January through February
    • - Virtual interviews with program and site - Medication therapy management (MTM) case exercise
    • Phase II: March through April
    • - Virtual interviews with program and site - Medication therapy management (MTM) case exercise - Applications received by March 31 receive best consideration

    Post-Selection

    • Candidates notified of status on Match Day
    • Successful candidates complete onboarding processes
    • Residency year begins on or around June 15
