Overview

Carlsbad Community Foundation In 2016, Chevron Products Company partnered with the Carlsbad Community Foundation to establish the Chevron Catalyst Fund. Through a competitive grant process, the fund enriches the lives of people in Carlsbad and South Eddy County, New Mexico, by supporting programs and projects that build community capacity and quality of life. Charitable organizations may apply for grants to address a wide variety of community needs, including civic involvement, health, diversity, arts and culture, education, etc. To best support broad charitable purposes in the community, we are not able to offer grants for event sponsorships, marketing activities, sports, travel, or political parties/activities. Typical grant awards have been between $500 and $5,000. Foundation Grant Overview The Carlsbad Community Foundation welcomes grant proposals from non-profit organizations for projects consistent with the Foundation’s mission of improving the lives of people in Carlsbad and South Eddy County. Proposed projects are evaluated for their benefit to our local community. The Foundation’s grants and scholarships are focused on the immediate area. Priority will be given to needs and causes having the greatest overall community impact. Encouragement will be given to “challenge gifts,” meaning distributions will be authorized provided other donors make matching gifts. The Foundation will, on occasion, seek out needs and worthy causes rather than merely respond to grant requests. Proposals for grants should be submitted in a letter with two signatures that briefly outlines the objectives and significance of the project to the community and includes a general budget for how the money will be spent. Any proposed grant request should be accompanied by a copy of the applicant’s official notice of tax-exempt status under the Internal Revenue Code, if one is not already on file.
