Charlotte Raymond Anderson Teaching Scholarship

Award Amount: $5,000 per recipient

Purpose: To provide financial assistance for people with the sincere desire to attain the highest degree of proficiency in teaching

Eligibility:
Applicants must demonstrate:

  • Sincere desire to study for a teaching career OR

  • Teachers pursuing a graduate degree to increase proficiency in teaching OR

  • Those pursuing K-12 school counseling or administration
  • Focus: Excellence in the teaching profession

    About the Scholarship: The Charlotte Raymond Anderson Teaching Scholarship (CRATS) was established in late 2019. Charlotte Raymond Anderson chose the New Ulm Area Foundation to manage the fund and selection process because of her lifelong passion for education and teaching. She wanted to support people interested in pursuing excellence in the teaching field.

    Application Timeline: Applications available starting February 15th each year

    Selection Process: Rigorous selection including:

  • Completion of full application

  • Verification of minimum GPA requirements

  • Essay describing reasons for choosing a teaching career and/or pursuing an advanced teaching degree

  • Letters of recommendation

  • Letter of acceptance into an accredited college/university program

  • Selection committee comprises representatives from NUAF, Charlotte's representatives, and local high school counselors
  • Recent Recipient: Kincaid Diersen (2020) - Minnesota Valley Lutheran High School senior with 3.976 GPA, planning to attend Martin Luther College for Science Education (Life Science and Chemistry majors)
