Chapman Foundation Charitable Grants

The Alvah H. & Wyline P. Chapman Foundation makes grants to U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofits for spiritual, scientific, historical, environmental, literary and educational charitable endeavors and community initiatives. Main interest areas: children & families, education, substance-abuse prevention, multicultural understanding, natural and historical conservation, and programs serving the homeless. Grants support operating costs, specific projects and endowments; the Foundation rarely makes awards over $15,000 and prefers not to make multi-year commitments. No grants to individuals. Geographic preference: communities where the Foundation's directors and family reside or are involved (primarily Florida; under special circumstances, parts of Georgia).

Grants are considered twice a year (December and June meetings). Submission deadlines: October 15 (for the December meeting) and May 15 (for the June meeting); next open deadline is October 15, 2026. A prospective applicant must be sponsored or endorsed by a Director or member of the Foundation; applicants without an endorsement should first submit a brief Letter of Inquiry (amount requested + project description), after which successful applicants are invited to submit a full application.
