Chapin Foundation Grant

Since 1943 the Chapin Foundation makes grants within the city of Myrtle Beach, SC and a one-mile radius, across five focus areas: Churches (local religious institutions), Church-sponsored 501(c)(3) nonprofits, the Claire Chapin Epps Family YMCA, Public Libraries, and Public Healthcare Providers. Grant sizes vary (e.g., a $500,000 grant plus $1M and $400,000 challenge grant to the Boys & Girls Club of the Grand Strand in 2023).

Every grant begins with a Letter of Inquiry (LOI). LOIs are due on the first day of each quarter - January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1 - with board decisions/awards by the last day of each quarter (decisions made March, June, September, December). Nonprofits must be identified/sponsored by a church or regularly organized religious institution located within one mile of the Myrtle Beach city limits and include proof of 501(c)(3) status and a brief project description. Approved applicants complete a full online application; a site visit may be requested. Does NOT fund individuals, indirect costs, government-role programs, endowments, loans, debt retirement, member-benefit-only orgs, event tickets, or lobbying. Next LOI deadline as of 2026-08-29: 2026-10-01 (recurs quarterly).
