Overview

Central Texas Home Visiting Grant Program

Subtitle: A Good Start is a Healthy Start

Geographic Scope: Central Texas (Bastrop, Caldwell, Hays, Travis, Williamson counties)

Overview: This RFP expands home visiting capacity as a component of the Foundation's broader strategy to ensure that all Central Texas children get the best possible start in life. Home visiting is a valuable tool influencing three interrelated goals:

  • Reducing sources of stress

  • Strengthening core life skills

  • Supporting responsive relationships
  • Expected Outcomes: Improvements in:

  • Maternal, prenatal, infant and child health

  • Child development

  • Parenting practices

  • School readiness

  • Coordination of community resources for families with young children

  • Reduced rates of child maltreatment
  • Program Definition: Home visiting programs seek to improve well-being of young children (prenatal to age five) and their families by using the home as the primary mechanism to provide direct support and coordination of services. While services can be received elsewhere, the home is the primary service delivery setting.

    Funding Categories:

      Planning Grants

    • Maximum Award: $75,000 (one-time)
    • Duration: 6-month period
    • Purpose: For sites exploring the launch of new home visiting programs
    • Follow-up: Receipt of planning grant does not guarantee additional implementation funding

      Implementation Grants

    • Maximum Award: $500,000 per year
    • Duration: 12 months, followed by two one-year renewals, prior to any re-procurement
    • Purpose: For launch of new models or expansion of existing models
