CDBG Elderly Home Repair

Overview: Funds the repair or replacement of substandard systems for eligible homeowners age 62 and older.

Geographic Scope: Property must be located within the Bowling Green City limits

Eligibility:

Very low-, low-, and moderate-income households

Homeowner must be 62 years of age or older

Bowling Green residents only

Income limits effective June 1, 2025: 1 person $53,100, 2 people $60,700, 3 people $68,300, 4 people $75,850, 5 people $81,950, 6 people $88,000, 7 people $94,100, 8 people $100,150

Maximum Award: $20,000 to repair one substandard item

Key Terms:

No mortgages placed on the property

Homeowner must obtain 3 estimates to assure reasonable replacement costs

Eligible Improvements (Substandard Systems):

Roofing

Plumbing

Heating and electrical problems

Other related repairs

Note: If a structure has more than one substandard condition, owner is encouraged to participate in Wood County's Owner-Occupied Housing Rehabilitation program.
