Overview

CDBG Elderly Home Repair

Overview: Funds the repair or replacement of substandard systems for eligible homeowners age 62 and older.

Geographic Scope: Property must be located within the Bowling Green City limits

Eligibility:

  • Very low-, low-, and moderate-income households

  • Homeowner must be 62 years of age or older

  • Bowling Green residents only

  • Income limits effective June 1, 2025: 1 person $53,100, 2 people $60,700, 3 people $68,300, 4 people $75,850, 5 people $81,950, 6 people $88,000, 7 people $94,100, 8 people $100,150
  • Maximum Award: $20,000 to repair one substandard item

    Key Terms:

  • No mortgages placed on the property

  • Homeowner must obtain 3 estimates to assure reasonable replacement costs
  • Eligible Improvements (Substandard Systems):

  • Roofing

  • Plumbing

  • Heating and electrical problems

  • Other related repairs
  • Note: If a structure has more than one substandard condition, owner is encouraged to participate in Wood County's Owner-Occupied Housing Rehabilitation program.
