Category A Grant Program

Program Type: Full-service civil legal aid providers

Geographic Scope: Oregon statewide

Funding Allocation: Between 55% and 80% of OLF's annual funding is reserved for Category A grantees.

Eligible Organizations: Category A consists of the full-service legal aid providers that make up the Association of Oregon Legal Services Programs as funded on January 1, 2000. Presently the association consists of:

  • Legal Aid Services of Oregon

  • Oregon Law Center

  • Center for NonProfit Legal Services
  • Focus Areas: Civil legal assistance to low-income Oregonians through a statewide network of offices in 17 communities. Assistance is coordinated and centered on the needs of the client community.

    2026 Award: Association of Oregon Legal Services Programs - $2,927,500

    Funding Source: Interest generated on lawyer trust accounts (IOLTA) and partnership with Oregon banks

    Timeline:
    1. August: Applications available on OLF website
    2. October 1, 2026: Deadline for submitting grant applications
    3. October: Grants Committee makes recommendations to OLF board
    4. December: OLF Board awards grants and notifies grantees

  • Narrative report on work completed in first 8 months of previous grant year (submitted with new application)
  • Reporting Requirements:

  • Narrative Report: Due with next year's application, covering first 8 months of grant year

  • Statistical Report: Due May 1 following grant year - Statistical Grant Report for Category A Grantees (xlsx)
  • Evaluation Criteria:

  • Applications evaluated based on Grantee Standards, Guidelines outlined in Policies and Procedures (pdf)
