Geographic Scope: Not restricted (international applications accepted)

Focus Areas:

  • Basic scientific, clinical, or translational research focused on appendix cancer and/or appendiceal pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP)

  • Studies of biology, epidemiology, genetics, pharmacology, immunobiology, or biochemistry of malignant epithelial neoplasms of the appendix

  • Appendiceal mucinous neoplasms

  • Appendiceal adenocarcinomas (including signet ring cell adenocarcinoma and goblet cell adenocarcinoma)

  • Pseudomyxoma peritonei of appendiceal origin
  • Research Areas Encouraged (but not limited to):

  • Early detection and diagnosis of appendiceal tumors

  • Appendix cancer genetics

  • Development of novel model systems of appendix cancers

  • Molecular and clinical determinants of appendiceal malignancies

  • Pre-clinical studies and/or clinical trials for appendix cancer-specific diagnostic/therapeutic targets
  • Eligibility:

  • Projects with potential to translate research to extramural funding applications (e.g., NIH, DoD, FDA, corporate sponsors)

  • Additional pre-clinical studies and clinical trials

  • Innovative proposals aligned with grant program goals
  • What is NOT Funded:

  • Indirect costs are not allowed
  • Background:

  • ACPMP has distributed over $2,105,000 in the form of 46 research grants to date

  • Founded in 2008, the ACPMP Research Foundation was created by a community of individuals affected by appendix cancer and PMP
