Overview

California Peace Officers' Memorial Foundation Scholarship Program

Purpose: Assist survivors of California peace officers killed in the line of duty by offering educational scholarships to help them reach their educational goals.

Geographic Scope: California

Focus Areas: Educational expenses for survivors of fallen peace officers

Eligibility

Applicants must be:

  • Survivors of a California peace officer killed in the line of duty and enrolled on the California Peace Officers' Memorial Monument in Sacramento

  • Eligible survivors include: spouses, children, stepchildren, and adopted children

  • Enrolled in an accredited trade school, college, or graduate program for the semester/quarter/term of application (minimum half-time basis)

  • Carrying a minimum of 6 units per semester or 8 units per quarter

  • Maintaining a minimum GPA of 2.0

  • Subject to maximum of six (6) total scholarship awards in lifetime
  • Award Categories

    • Accredited Trade Schools: Up to $5,000 per year
    • Accredited Two-Year College: Up to $5,000 per year
    • Accredited Four-Year College: Up to $5,000 per year
    • Accredited Graduate Programs: Up to $5,000 per year

    Eligible Expenses

    • Tuition and registration fees
    • Books, computers, computer programs, and course incidentals
    • Living expenses (room, board, meals, transportation) directly related to attendance
    • Other expenses directly related to institution attendance

    Important: Funds must be used in the calendar year for which they were approved. Any unused portion must be returned to CPOMF.

    • Non-discriminatory: Approval will not be based on sex, age, race, creed, national origin, religious preference, or field of endeavor

    How to Apply

    Application Process

    1. Complete the online application form - Submit electronically during the application period (June 1 - September 1 annually)

    2. Provide proof of enrollment - Submit by September 15:
    - Student's class schedule
    - Must include: student's name, school name, units carried, and term
    - Email to: mmendoza@camemorial.org

    3. Submit transcripts (if applicable) - Past CPOMF scholarship recipients must provide copies of their most recent transcripts:
    - Email to: mmendoza@camemorial.org
    - Must be submitted by September 15

    4. Sign Acceptance of Terms and Conditions - Recipients must return a signed statement prior to receipt of funds
