Community Foundation of North Central Washington The Community Foundation of NCW is a tax-exempt philanthropic organization that helps individuals, families, businesses, and agencies support charitable causes throughout Chelan, Douglas, and Okanogan counties. Cakes for College Scholarship The Keep It In the Valley Foundation (KVF) turns funnel cakes into scholarships. Since 2013, KVF has run the Apple Blossom Festival's funnel cake stand as a nonprofit, with all proceeds going to the Cakes for College scholarship fund. Our founder, Ben Paine, was awarded a Community Foundation scholarship as a Wenatchee High School senior, helping him pursue a college degree at the University of Notre Dame. This act of generosity stayed with Ben throughout his life, inspiring him and his family. Together, in 2012, they established KVF to help the next generation from our valley get started on their path to earning a college degree. This scholarship aims to assist high school seniors planning to attend Wenatchee Valley College. Up to 20 scholarships are awarded each year to students graduating from high schools in Wenatchee, Eastmont, or Cashmere. Ideal candidates are engaged individuals with strong communication skills who make a positive local impact through school and community activities.Eligibility
