Community Foundation of Howard County The Community Foundation of Howard County (CFHC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public charity with the goal of improving the quality of life in Howard County, primarily through endowment building and coordinated grant-making services. Scholarships The Community Foundation of Howard County works with local philanthropists to provide scholarships to Howard County students who show exceptional promise. Each scholarship is uniquely designed to meet the donors eligibility requirements. C. Merritt Pumphrey Scholarship This $1,000 scholarship is available to a student currently in their senior year at a Howard County Public School or Chapelgate, who plans to pursue an education in pre-law, agriculture, animal husbandry, or a field related to farming. Members of 4-H are encouraged to apply, but membership is not required. This scholarship is available alternating years beginning in 2017

Eligibility

Attend a Howard County Public School OR Chapelgate High School in Howard County, Maryland;Plan to pursue an education in pre-law, agriculture, animal husbandry, or a field related to farming;Plan to attend a two- or four-year college/university; and, Have an unweighted 3.0 or higher cumulative grade point average through Grade 11. In addition, an unweighted grade point average of 3.0 or higher must be maintained through the first semester of Grade 12.
