BSN Scholars Program

Partners: UT Medical and University of Tennessee Knoxville, College of Nursing

Program Type: Academic-practice partnership for undergraduate nursing education

Geographic Scope: UT Research Park at Cherokee Farm (satellite campus adjacent to UT Medical) in Knoxville, Tennessee area

Focus: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree with integrated clinical training at UT Medical

Program Details

Structure:

  • Accelerated curriculum spanning 15 months

  • Available to college juniors

  • First class enrolled fall 2023

  • First graduating class: fall 2024
  • Funding:

  • Scholarships provided by UT Medical to students

  • Three-year work commitment post-graduation at UT Medical required of scholarship recipients

  • Faculty positions funded by UTMC
  • Learning Environment:

  • Classes taught at UT Research Park satellite campus

  • Clinical rotations completed at UT Medical

  • On-site learning lab and simulation center available

  • Same accreditation standards as UT College of Nursing programs

  • Same mission, vision, values, and honor code as college's existing programs
  • Expected Outcomes:

  • Estimated 100+ additional nurses annually will graduate with BSN as program grows

  • Graduates will work directly at bedside at UTMC

  • Addresses East Tennessee regional nursing shortage
