The BJC Scholars Fund was established and funded by BJC HealthCare in response to community needs identified by the Ferguson Commission. It is administered through The Scholarship Foundation of St. Louis for college-bound high school seniors who reside in counties where BJC hospitals are located. BJC HealthCare is the largest employer in the St. Louis region and one of the largest nonprofit health care organizations in the United States, delivering services to residents primarily in the greater St. Louis, southern Illinois and mid-Missouri regions. Serving the health care needs of urban, suburban and rural communities, BJC includes 15 hospitals and multiple health service organizations. Services include inpatient and outpatient care, primary care, community health and wellness, workplace health, home health, community mental health, rehabilitation, long-term care and hospice. BJC’s nationally recognized academic hospitals, Barnes-Jewish and St. Louis Children’s hospitals, are affiliated with Washington University School of Medicine. BJC HealthCare is committed to improving the health and well-being of the people and communities it serves through leadership, education, innovation and excellence in medicine. The BJC Scholars Fund is intended to serve youth in pursuit of higher education from communities and surrounding areas in which BJC hospitals are located.
