Bill Martin Scholarship

Established: 1996

Overview: The Bill Martin Scholarship was established in 1996 by the Martin family in honor of Bill Martin, a PGA Golf Professional, superintendent, club owner, and longtime member of the Oregon Golf Course Superintendents Association (OGCSA). Bill served as President of the OGCSA in 1960. The scholarship is presented annually to deserving students.

  • Undergraduate or graduate students currently enrolled in the Turf Management Program at Oregon State University
  • Must be a student member of OGCSA

  • Letter(s) of recommendation from Turf Management Faculty/Advisor and/or Turf Industry Professional
  • Current transcript
  • Current resume
  • 750-word essay describing reasons for requesting scholarship, brief autobiography, statement of commitment to turfgrass industry and Pacific Northwest, and future goals

- Cumulative GPA and current class standing (Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Graduate Student)
- Description of experience in turfgrass industry
- Description of experience in other fields
- List of all volunteer activities
- Essay (750 words or less): Describe your reasons for requesting a scholarship. Include a brief autobiography, a statement of your commitment to the turfgrass industry and the Pacific Northwest, and your future goals.
- Copy of official transcript
- Letter(s) of recommendation from Turf Management Faculty/Advisor and/or Turf Industry Professional
- Copy of resume
