The Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation was established in 1983 by visionary community leaders. We are a collection of hundreds of endowed funds established by individuals, families, private foundations, and businesses to enhance the quality of life in our region. Since our inception, we have distributed more than $40 million in grants and scholarships and currently administer over 360 different funds, each with its own charitable purpose. The Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation promotes private giving for the public good. Fund Mission The mission of Ben Van Deelen Charitable Fund is to provide funding for the prevention, treatment, and study of mental illness and substance use disorders in youth and young adults, with a focus on funding in the communities of Duluth, Hermantown, Proctor, and Superior, and the immediate surrounding areas. The following are representative, but not exclusive examples of projects which could be recipients of Ben Van Deelen Charitable Fund grants: Services preventing or treating mental illness and substance use disorders in youth and young adults;Supports for families with youth and young adults experiencing mental illness and substance use disorders;Training of providers in the prevention or treatment of mental illness and substance use disorders;Initiate or further studies of mental illness and substance use disorders in youth and young adults.Eligibility
