Overview

Behavioral Health Grant

Funder: Elevance Health Foundation

Geographic Scope: United States with emphasis on:

  • National programs promoting scalable and sustainable systemic change

  • Local programs in: California, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Missouri, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Texas, and Virginia
  • Focus Areas:

  • Increase the number of individuals receiving treatment for mental health (MH) and/or substance use disorders (SUD)

  • Support prevention and early-intervention strategies

  • Reduce loneliness among individuals with MH and/or SUD
  • Grant Program Goals:

  • Achieve a percent increase in the number of individuals receiving treatment services for MH and/or SUD

  • Support prevention and early intervention strategies to reduce risks and harms associated with MH and/or SUD through screenings

  • Reduce feelings of loneliness among individuals with MH and/or SUD
  • Eligibility:

  • Qualified nonprofit organizations across the U.S.

  • Must be exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(3)

  • Must be a public charity described in section 509(a)(1) or (a)(3)

  • Must not be a section 509(a)(3) type III nonfunctionally integrated organization
  • Grant Terms:

  • Generally 1-3 years in duration

  • Grant ranges are open; funding levels determined based on need and plan presented

  • Organizations cannot receive overlapping grants from the foundation
  • Status: Grant applications will be accepted again in 2027
