Summary
The ASTR Teacher-Researchers Grant supports faculty with heavy teaching loads and limited research resources in theatre studies. This grant fosters scholarly exchange by providing an honorarium of up to $1000, complimentary conference registration, and a one-year ASTR membership. Applications are evaluated based on project feasibility and significance, with additional consideration for those facing institutional research support challenges. This initiative aims to enhance diversity and facilitate meaningful contributions to the field.Overview
Purpose Recognizing the deep disparities in available resources that distinguish institutions across our profession and that ultimately impede exchange between scholars within the broadly defined field of theatre studies, the ASTR Grants for Researchers with Heavy Teaching Loads promote scholarly and practical exchange among theatre researchers by providing opportunities to faculty at institutions with heavy teaching loads and limited support for scholarship. The goal of the ASTR Grant for Researchers with Heavy Teaching Loads is to ensure that institutional affiliation does not hinder the contributions of individual faculty to conversations in the field that concern us all and that are central to ASTR’s mission of cultivating scholarship on all aspects of theatre studies. Evaluation Applications will be evaluated primarily on the feasibility and significance of the proposed research project. Additional consideration will be given to faculty who have extremely limited institutional research support, previously unsupported projects, and projects that enrich ASTR's diversity. Award This award provides an up to $1000 honorarium, complimentary conference registration, and a one-year membership to ASTR.Eligibility
