Program Description:
The Alexa Rose Fellow is a transformative, merit-based investment in the accelerated development of an artist's creative practice and their capacity to join with the Foundation's named Fellows and use this platform to lift up artistic peers. This award recognizes an exemplary individual wielding creative mastery and making a significant impact in their community and artistic field.

The Foundation seeks to recognize and reward creative momentum, powerful artistic voice, and a track record of engagement. The 2024 Fellow, Grant Olsen, is described as having pursued a creative practice of joy while demonstrating significant community engagement, mentorship, and giving back.

Program Focus

The Fellowship recognizes artists who:
• Have made significant contributions to their creative field
• Are active creators in the artistic community with some success or progress toward sharing work regionally, nationally, and/or internationally
• Demonstrate a trajectory of artistic growth
• Have a tendency to give back and engage with their community
• Demonstrate creative mastery and powerful artistic voice
• Engage in mentorship and community support

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:
• Be a full-time resident of Ada or Canyon County OR be an Indigenous Boise Valley tribal member who may reside elsewhere
• Be 25 years or older
• Not be enrolled in a degree program
• Not have assignments pending when the Fellowship begins
• May work in any artistic discipline, including but not limited to: performing, literary, film, visual, or multimedia arts

Note: Previous and current funding from the Foundation is a point of pride and does not impact eligibility. Merit-based selection does not take into consideration the financial capacity or financial needs of candidates.

Evaluation Criteria

Applicants will be evaluated based on:
• Powerful artistic voice (as evidenced in work samples and critical response)
• Track record of engagement and community involvement
• Demonstrated mentorship and giving back
• Trajectory of artistic growth
• Creative mastery
• Impact on the local and broader artistic community
