Al Forthan Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund

Volunteers of America Oregon, in partnership with an anonymous donor, is establishing an endowment to support the Al Forthan Memorial Scholarship in perpetuity through invested funds that generate ongoing earnings.

Purpose: To create a sustainable, long-term funding source for the Al Forthan Scholarship that will support students indefinitely, ensuring generations to come have access to educational opportunities.

Who Benefits:

• Oregon high school seniors from families impacted by addiction and poverty
• Students who are survivors of domestic violence
• Students who have faced drug or alcohol abuse in their homes

Fundraising Goal: $100,000 total to establish the endowment

How Endowment Works:

• All contributions are tax-deductible
• Funds are invested with the Volunteers of America Oregon endowment
• Investment earnings are used to support student recipients indefinitely
• Creates a transformative, visionary investment in human potential

Impact to Date:

• Since 2006, VOA Oregon has awarded $876,000 in scholarship assistance
