Agnes Freyer Gibbs Scholarship Fund Grant

The Agnes Freyer Gibbs Scholarship Fund, established by the Maine Community Foundation in 2018, offers renewable financial support to Maine students pursuing journalism or related fields. Eligible applicants include graduating seniors from Maine high schools or home-schooled students with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Selection is based on demonstrated interest in journalism, academic achievement, and financial need. Preference is given to female applicants, fostering diversity and support within the media landscape.

Maine Community Foundation
The Maine Community Foundation established its first scholarship fund in 1984. Now, through the generosity of individuals, community organizations, and businesses that believe in the importance of education, the community foundation awards more than $3 million each year from nearly 700 scholarship funds.
MaineCF scholarships provide financial assistance for Maine residents attending accredited colleges, universities, technical and career schools. The funds also support students attending private high schools, camps, and experiential learning programs.
The Agnes Freyer Gibbs Scholarship Fund was established in 2018 to provide renewable support for students majoring in journalism or a field reasonably related, including all forms of print, broadcast or electronic media.

Eligibility

Graduating seniors at Maine high schools orHome-schooled in a Maine community during their last year of secondary educationWith a GPA of at least 3.0Students will be chosen based on demonstrated interest in journalism, financial need and academic achievement.

Ineligibility

Those interested in careers in Marketing, Public Relations and Advertising are not eligible for consideration.
