About Us The Community Foundation of Sarasota County is a local thought leader on employing a two-generation model of support for students and their parents. We are committed to opening doors for parents at four Title 1 Elementary Schools in Sarasota County, Alta Vista Elementary School, Emma E. Booker Elementary School, Gocio Elementary School, and Tuttle Elementary School, in order to support their acquisition of college credentials which lead to family-sustaining wages. The Community Foundation of Sarasota County 2Gen Scholarship connects low-income parents from these schools to educational pathways which build their skills as well as social capital. Mission Since our founding by the Southwest Florida Estate Planning Council in 1979, the Community Foundation of Sarasota County has been making the important connection between individuals’ personal memories, passions and dreams, and the fulfillment of their charitable goals. By actively listening to the desires of our donors, we help create permanent charitable funds that ensure people of vision have an enduring impact on our community and the causes they hold dear. Our motto — “Be the One” — reflects our deeply-held belief that anyone can be a philanthropist and give back to our community, regardless of means. You can learn more about this opportunity by visiting the funder's website. This application is only available to students who: Are residents of Sarasota or Manatee Counties for 1 year or longer. Have a child enrolled in Alta Vista, Emma E. Booker, Gocio or Tuttle Elementary Schools. Have received a referral from the Parent Education Navigator to apply for the 2Gen Scholarship. Will not be receiving a renewable scholarship or another scholarship from the foundation for the 2024-2025 school year.
