2025-2026 ESC IDEA-B Sensory Impairments Grant

The 2025-2026 ESC IDEA-B Sensory Impairments program, administered by the Texas Education Agency, aims to enhance support for local educational agencies. It focuses on improving educational outcomes for students with visual impairments, including those who are blind or deafblind. The program provides essential technical assistance and training for educators, as well as funding for certified interpreters, ensuring effective communication and access to resources for teachers at the Texas School for the Deaf.

The Texas Education Agency (TEA), as the pass-through entity, is the grantee from the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) and TEA awards subgrants to non-federal entities such as local educational agencies (LEAs), including school districts, charter schools, and education service centers, and to a lesser degree institutions of higher education (IHEs), and nonprofit organizations (NPOs) who are the agency’s subgrantees.
The purpose of this program is to support activities that are directly related to the provision of technical assistance, training, and support to school districts and charter schools to improve student performance as well as program and service effectiveness for students with visual impairments, including those who are blind or deafblind. Additionally, this program provides funding for certified interpreters for the deaf, so that teachers at the Texas School for the Deaf (TSD) have access to training sessions.
