Mission

Streamline and amplify members' engagement in philanthropy, making it easy for them to create a lasting difference in local communities. Committed to channeling 100% of all donations annually to nonprofits dedicated to benefiting under-served or disadvantaged populations.

    Grant Amount

    Grant amounts are determined by the annual giving of members. Recently approximately $40,000 per Impact Grant. Two types of grants are awarded:
  • Impact Grants: Larger awards (~$40,000); organizations must wait 1 year before re-applying
  • Investment Grants: Smaller awards (~$8,000-$15,000); organizations can re-apply the following year

    Focus Areas

    The foundation considers grant proposals in three focus areas:
  • Education
  • Family
  • Health & Wellness

    Geographic Scope

  • Service Area: Santa Clara County and San Mateo County, California
  • Must serve this region or be a recognized local chapter of a state or national nonprofit serving this region
  • All funds must be spent locally within Santa Clara or San Mateo counties

Eligibility Requirements

Organizational Requirements:

  • Must be a 501(c)(3) or 509(a) public charity for a minimum of 36 months prior to the annual event in March

  • Minimum organizational budget of $100,000

  • Must be invited to apply by a current member of the 100 Women Charitable Foundation

  • Must spend all monies locally within Santa Clara or San Mateo counties

  • Must intend to spend all funds within 12 months

  • Must disclose all pending or pre-served litigation

  • Minimum project budget of $60,000
  • Program Requirements:

  • Fund programs that have a long-term positive effect on the community

  • Programs must have a significant impact on people's lives

  • Must benefit an under-served or disadvantaged population within the local community

  • Successful applicants will demonstrate need for the entire impact grant and have a budget that demonstrates the sustainability of the project and/or program
    • Funding Exclusions

      The foundation does NOT fund:
    • Debt reduction or operational deficits
    • Grants to individuals
    • Endowment funding
    • Partisan, legislative, or political activity
    • Religious outreach or evangelical programs
    • Projects whose sole purpose is to fund athletics or visual & performing arts

      Grant Renewal Policy

    • Grants provided are non-renewable
    • Organizations receiving an Impact Grant should wait one year before re-applying
    • Organizations receiving an Investment Grant are welcome to re-apply the following year with a new proposal
    • Organizations may submit a new proposal the following year for continued funding

      Annual Timeline

    • Grant cycle typically held annually with awards presented at an event in early March
    • Site visits conducted October-November
    • Final selection and member voting in January
    • Grant distribution upon signed Terms of Agreement

    How to Apply

    Four-Phase Grant Application Process

    #### PHASE I: Letter of Inquiry (LOI) – Grant Cycle Starts April 1st

    Timeline:

  • Grant cycle opens: April 1, 2026

  • Deadline: June 15, 2026 (firm, no exceptions)

  • Letters accepted in order received

  • Maximum 45 Letters of Inquiry will be accepted
  • Requirements:
    1. Download the 2026 Letter of Inquiry form from the website
    2. Complete the LOI form (no other format accepted)
    3. Include referral name and email of a current 100 Women Charitable Foundation Member (mandatory)
    4. Submit electronically (method specified on form)
    5. Submitted LOI must be from an applicant meeting all organizational requirements

    Important Notes:

  • No Letters of Inquiry accepted after June 15 deadline

  • Only 45 LOIs accepted; considered in order of receipt

  • Foundation will acknowledge receipt of each LOI

  • Foundation reserves right to reject LOI for any reason, including if late or incomplete
  • #### PHASE II: Full Grant Application – Due in August

    Process:
    1. Organizations with approved LOIs will be invited to submit a Full Grant Application
    2. Submit by midnight on August deadline date (specific date provided upon LOI approval)
    3. Submit via email

    Required Materials:

  • Completed Grant Application form

  • Specific financial reports (as specified in application package)

  • Narrative application form
  • Review Process:

  • Applications reviewed and scored by three grant committees composed of 100 Women Charitable Foundation members

  • Foundation acknowledges each application received

  • Foundation allows for corrections to incomplete applications if deadline still met

  • Evaluation occurs in September and early October
  • #### PHASE III: Selection of Semi-Finalists – October-November

    Process:
    1. Foundation notifies all applicants in October of their application status
    2. Grant committees select semi-finalists in each of the three focus areas (Education, Family, Health & Wellness)
    3. Semi-finalists invited for site visits during October-November

    Site Visit Requirements:

  • Required time commitment: approximately 60-90 minutes

  • Participation required from: director, program manager, or other qualified organizational representative

  • Purpose: Complete general due diligence review and investigate/resolve any questions

  • Interview schedule established prior to visit
  • #### PHASE IV: Grant Finalists – January Notification and March Event

    Timeline:

  • Notification by January 15 if selected as finalist

  • Final presentations at annual event in early March
  • Requirements for Finalists:
    1. Create a short video describing the organization
    2. Make a short presentation at the annual 100 Women Charitable Foundation event in early March regarding how grant funds will be used
    3. Support provided for video creation

    Member Voting Process:
    1. Summary of information about each finalist and project emailed to all 100 Women Charitable Foundation members
    2. Each member eligible to cast one vote ranking their top three finalists
    3. Remote voting option available

    Grant Award Determination:

  • All finalists receive either an Impact Grant or Investment Grant based on member votes

  • Grant funds distributed upon return of signed Terms of Agreement form
    • Conflict of Interest

    • Members on grant evaluation committees or board must disclose potential conflicts of interest
    • All members expected to act objectively and fairly
    • Members must refrain from gaining unfair advantage for particular applicants
