Mission Statement: The foundation's mission is to co-create a more just and equitable future by building partnerships with and investing in organizations making an impact in Metro Atlanta communities. The foundation builds trusting partnerships and invests primarily in nonprofits that focus their experience and expertise on promoting racial equity through their work.

Investment Priorities:

The foundation invests in organizations that:

• Work in under-resourced communities
• Provide services and support to historically marginalized people
• Promote racial equity through their work and how they build their organization
• Build community assets including parks and greenspace, cultural institutions, and educational institutions

Capacity Building Focus:

For many years, the foundation's signature grant program has centered on strengthening nonprofit capacity. This has involved investing in transformational initiatives that lead nonprofits serving Atlanta to new levels of scale, operating strength, and capacity. The foundation has supported core building blocks nonprofits need to expand their reach and deepen their impact, including new or expanded program space, technology enhancements, administrative infrastructure, and efforts to unlock additional federal funding.

In response to the current operating environment marked by shifting revenue streams, shrinking public dollars, and growing demand for essential services, the foundation is adapting its traditional approach. Beginning in 2026, the foundation will offer Rebuild Grants that help the region's nonprofits redesign their business models to better withstand ongoing changes in federal funding and policy.
