The Josef and Anni Albers Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 1971 by Josef Albers to further "the revelation and evocation of vision through art." Located in Bethany, Connecticut on 70 wooded acres near New Haven, the Foundation is dedicated to preserving and promoting the enduring achievements of both Josef and Anni Albers, as well as the aesthetic and philosophical principles by which they lived.

The Foundation perpetuates the vision of Anni and Josef Albers through exhibitions, publications, education, and outreach concomitant with the Alberses' personal values.
Primary program areas include:
Conservation, Preservation & Scholarly Research: Conservation and scholarly research of art including works on glass by Josef Albers as well as oil paintings, drawings, photographs, photo-collages, and prints by him; weavings, textile materials, drawings, and prints by Anni Albers; and work by Josef Albers's colleagues and students, including original materials used for his 1962 publication Interaction of Color. Management of archives consisting of writings by and about both artists, photographs, exhibition catalogues, and other related materials.
Exhibitions: Preparation and organization of various exhibitions of art by Josef and Anni Albers, including loans of artworks to exhibitions worldwide.
Artist Residencies: Provision of time and space for artists with a range of styles and approaches but a shared belief in artistic integrity. The Foundation maintains residential studios for visiting artists who exemplify the seriousness of purpose that characterized both Anni and Josef Albers.
Education & Outreach: Supporting educational initiatives and providing access to the Foundation's archives and library for research and study.
Community Support: The Foundation supports Thread, a cultural center and water source in Sinthian, a rural village in Tambacounda, southeastern Senegal, which hosts an artist residency program.
