The foundation believes that as a society we can and must improve care for older adults to better meet their needs and maintain their independence and dignity. The foundation operates with three priority areas:
- Age-Friendly Health Systems - Creating health systems that are responsive to the needs of older adults
- Family Caregiving - Supporting family caregivers of older adults
- Serious Illness & End of Life - Improving care and support for serious illness and end-of-life planning
The foundation addresses the unique health needs of the elderly, including long-term care, the use of medication in chronic health problems, increasing the nation's geriatric research and training capability, and improving the integration of financing and care delivery for comprehensive geriatric services.
