The foundation’s mission is to promote an ecologically rich and economically prosperous future for current and future generations. It says it seeks to protect natural resources that support healthy economies and equip future generations to be strong leaders, engaged citizens, and good stewards of those resources.

Its three focus areas are:

• Wyoming Landscapes & Communities: Supports work to protect Wyoming’s landscapes and wildlife, build strong communities, diversify the economy, develop sustainable tax policy, and foster civic leadership and engagement. Among the 2024 grantees, Better Wyoming describes its mission as educating, organizing, and mobilizing Wyoming residents for statewide change. The Equality State Policy Center says it advances fair elections and transparent government in support of Wyoming communities.
• Early Childhood Education: Supports developmentally appropriate early learning grounded in place and focused on science, play, and experiential learning. Its stated strategies include building the outdoor-learning movement, sharing best practices, advocating for supportive regulation and licensure, and supporting educator development. Teton Science Schools, a 2024 grantee, describes its work as place-based education for students of all ages, connecting people, place, and nature through education.
• Climate & Democracy: Supports work toward a rapid, efficient, and just transition from carbon-emitting fuels to affordable alternatives without greenhouse gas emissions; the protection of democratic principles and practices; and conservation of ecosystems that help mitigate climate change. The foundation also lists ecosystem conservation and civic engagement among its Wyoming strategies.
