He established a family-owned real estate development company specializing in residential mid-rises, primarily in San Francisco, and also invests in and manages commercial properties across the Bay Area. His rental portfolio includes 751 residential units, with 115 designated as affordable housing units under the Below Market Rate (BMR) program. In 2022, he completed a transformative project at 1830 Alemany Boulevard featuring 116 residential units, 58 of which are BMR—the first time a developer voluntarily restricted half of a project's units as affordable housing, entirely self-funded.

Sami co-founded SST Investments with her husband Sia. The couple emigrated from Iran to the Bay Area in 1981 and have instilled philanthropic values in their two children, which continue to guide the foundation's work.
