Rotary Club of Stockton
THE ROTARY CLUB OF STOCKTON, FOUNDED IN 1914 AS THE 92ND ROTARY CLUB IN THE WORLD, IS PART OF ROTARY INTERNATIONAL, A GLOBAL NETWORK OF SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS COMMITTED TO HUMANITARIAN ACTION AND GOODWILL. THE CLUB ENGAGES MEMBERS IN SERVICE TO IMPROVE LIVES LOCALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY, FOSTERING FELLOWSHIP AND LEADERSHIP THROUGH COMMUNITY IMPACT. THE CLUB CONTINUES TO ADVANCE LITERACY THROUGH THE "READ TO ME STOCKTON" PROGRAM, ORIGINALLY LAUNCHED BY STOCKTON ROTARY AND NOW AN INDEPENDENT NONPROFIT THAT DISTRIBUTES FREE BOOKS TO CHILDREN THROUGHOUT THE CITY. WITH ONGOING LEADERSHIP AND SUPPORT FROM THE CLUB, THE PROGRAM IS EXPANDING TO REACH FAMILIES COUNTYWIDE ACROSS SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, HELPING YOUNG READERS BUILD STRONG FOUNDATIONS FOR LIFELONG LEARNING.
