IQE operates across three primary focus areas:
Scholarship Granting: IQE is a certified scholarship granting organization by the Indiana Department of Education. Since the beginning of the Indiana Tax Credit Scholarship Program in 2009, IQE has awarded over $45 million in scholarships and assisted over 35,000 Hoosier students in accessing quality education. In the fiscal year ended June 30, 2024, IQE granted scholarships to 5,013 students to assist with tuition and fees.
Policy Advocacy & Education: IQE develops, advocates for, and implements K-12 education policies at the state level to support educational freedom for all Hoosier families and educators. The organization educates families, educators, community leaders, citizens, and policymakers about the importance of access to quality education and educational choice.
School Support & Network Development: IQE works with over 85% of charter schools in the state by convening and leading the Indiana charter school network. The organization supports all types of schools by celebrating academic successes and connecting struggling schools with resources and strategies needed for improvement. IQE also provides information and resources on school accountability metrics and policy implementation.
