Youth are recruited from local high schools and through community partner organizations. The program is designed for youth with limited exposure to the outdoors. Because youth in urban centers often have limited opportunities for employment, SCA provides participants a stipend or wage for their work and focuses on the development of job readiness skills.$10,000

During FY22 (April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022), SCA will recruit and train approximately 26 Bay Area youth to participate in an immersive five-week program and learn about the field of conservation while having a transformative impact on local green spaces. Each SCA Community Crew consists of 5-8 youth and 1-2 young adult leaders who build and maintain trails, plant trees, remove invasive species, and restore natural habitats.$10,000
