Youth Philanthropy Service Grants
Funder: Legacy Foundation Inc

Award Amount: $500 per grant
Purpose
To support Youth Philanthropy and Civic Engagement for 6th-12th grade students in Lake County. The goal of these grants is to leverage the strengths of youth to affect change in their communities.- Support the next generation of philanthropists and civic leaders
- Provide youth with opportunities to have their voices heard
- Enable meaningful change in their communities
- Teach youth the importance of philanthropy
- Provide education regarding local challenges, social issues, or current events
- Develop social consciousness in youth
- Inspire and empower youth to make a difference
Focus Areas
Grants fund projects that:- Educational institutions (public, private, and charter schools)
- Faith-based organizations
- Community-based nonprofits
- Municipal/county youth departments
- Youth clubs and student councils
- Church youth groups (for non-denominational community-based activities)
Eligible Applicants
Examples include, but are not limited to:- Service projects can be completed within the classroom or outside of school by students with adult supervision
- A Legacy Foundation staff person will attend at least one session of the project and conduct a brief age-appropriate discussion with students
- Applicants must demonstrate a relationship and commitment to working with youth and government, non-profits, and community members
- Programs should embrace and include diversity and inclusion across multiple dimensions (race, ethnicity, gender, disability, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status)
