About Us Igniting changemakers for a thriving Reno County For more than 25 years, Hutchinson Community Foundation has been working to multiply the impact of charitable giving by connecting community members, nonprofits, and other partners to brighten the future of Hutchinson and Reno County through philanthropy. We work with individuals, families and professional advisors to engage and educate you about the issues affecting our community and how to make a greater impact with your giving. We provide administrative support and fiscal stewardship, encourage innovative thinking and share community knowledge. Youth Philanthropy Council Grants The Youth Philanthropy Council (YPC) is a youth-led grantmaking program designed to involve Reno County students in philanthropy. YPC members from high schools across the county are recruited to: Identify and prioritize needs for youth in our community Establish criteria for the selection of youth-focused grant proposals Review grant proposals Make final decisions on which proposals to fund Award the grants Each spring the YPC distributes approximately $5,000 in grants which come from the Richard W. Dillon Memorial Fund for Youth Philanthropy. The Dillon family established the fund to honor Dick Dillon as a tribute to the extensive philanthropic work he was responsible for in the Hutchinson and Reno County communities. Funding Grant requests up to $1,000 will be considered. Grant awards typically range from $250 to $1,000 and average $750.

Eligibility

Proposals must come from organizations that are exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) and serve Reno County. Special purpose units of government (such as schools and churches) may apply for support of innovative projects.YPC wishes to fund projects which (one or more):Are created and/or directed by youth with appropriate organizational supervision. Promote the healthy development of children and youth. Introduce children and youth to the fine arts or support their participation in the arts. Provide opportunities for youth to give back to the community through meaningful service. Build positive relationships between youth and adults. Have a realistic budget and solid plan.

Ineligibility

Grant proposals from individuals or non-qualifying organizations will not be considered.
