Overview

Youth Education Leadership Program (Y.E.L.P.)

Overview: A partnership program supported by the Outdoor Heritage Foundation, the Alaska Chapter of Safari Club International, and various sponsors to train youth in fish and wildlife conservation and outdoor traditions.

    Eligibility

  • Primary target: High school juniors and seniors
  • Also open to: High school sophomores (if space available)
  • Geographic scope: Alaska

    Program Components

  • Trip to Juneau with visits to:
  • - Governor and Lt. Governor's offices - Governor's cabinet members - Legislative offices
  • Participation in legislative process discussions
  • Discussion of timely conservation and wildlife issues
  • One student selected annually to attend the American Wilderness Leadership School in Jackson Hole, Wyoming

    Purpose

  • Develop knowledge and skills for fish and wildlife conservation
  • Support important human traditions associated with fish and wildlife resources
