WSF Scholars Grant

Winston-Salem Foundation
The Winston‑Salem Foundation is one of the oldest community foundations in the United States—established in 1919 with a donation of $1,000. Over the past century, it has partnered with donors, nonprofits, educators, and community leaders to invest permanently in the people and places of Forsyth County, North Carolina. The Foundation supports charitable giving, manages donor‐advised and endowed funds, and awards grants and scholarships to strengthen the region’s educational, social, cultural, and economic infrastructure.

The Foundation’s strategic priorities focus on two critical areas: Building an Inclusive Economy—improving access to high-wage employment and equitable wealth-building—and Advancing Equity in Education—improving access to rigorous academic opportunities, promoting compassionate discipline, and increasing educator diversity.
This scholarship requires applicants to submit a FAFSA Submission Summary to verify financial need, along with their most recent academic transcript—either a high school transcript through 11th grade for graduating seniors or a college transcript for current college students. Applicants must also provide contact information for a recommender who can speak to their character, academic ability, and potential for success.
