Geographic Scope: Stateline area (Beloit, WI and surrounding region)

Focus Areas:

• Helping Stateline area women and girls move out of poverty to self-sufficiency
• Addressing challenges including lack of transportation to programs and lack of childcare options
• Mental health services for women who have experienced trauma
• Youth programming for at-risk girls
• Women's empowerment and development

Mission: "We believe that when women thrive, communities prosper"

Key Statistics on Need:

• More than 70% of Beloit households below the Federal Poverty Level are headed by a woman with a high school diploma or less
• Only 57% of this demographic group are employed
• 78% of children in the School District of Beloit receive free or reduced price lunches

Recent Grant Awards (2014):

• $4,000 to Family Services (mental health therapist for trauma survivors)
• $3,000 to Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) (pilot program for young women, volunteer driver transportation)
• $700 to Girls Scouts of Wisconsin Badgerland Council ("Girls Who Rock" after-school program)
• $600 to Project 16:49 (teen homelessness awareness film sequel)

Fund History:

• Formed in 2011
• First appeal in 2012
• Raised nearly $50,000 by 2014 (working toward $100,000 goal)
• Dispersed $8,300 in 2014
