Overview

Women in Business Mentoring Program

Program Type: Mentorship program

Duration: 12 months

Geographic Scope: French-American Chamber of Commerce - New York (NY, US)

Focus Areas: Professional development, career advancement, business mentoring

Program Structure:

  • Pairs mentees with experienced mentors

  • Minimum 7 meetings throughout the year

  • Attendance at 3 workshops/events hosted by the Mentorship Cohort

  • Additional sessions as deemed appropriate by the pair
    • Eligibility

    • Open to women in business
    • FACC-NY members preferred (application asks if applicant or company is a member)
    • Available to both mentors and mentees

    Expectations of Mentee

    1. Commit to investing time and effort in personal development and developing personal goals 2. Plan the agenda for each meeting and communicate in advance to mentor 3. Take brief notes of actions agreed at each meeting and complete specific development actions 4. Be open with mentor about challenges and barriers 5. Be open to feedback and suggestions from mentor, and provide appropriate feedback

    Expectations of Mentor

    1. Anticipate and commit to investing time and effort in the mentoring relationship 2. Put best effort into completing any specific support actions agreed with mentee 3. Be responsive to the mentee between meetings 4. Provide guidance, feedback, encouragement, and challenge to the mentee 5. Maintain confidentiality

    - Where do you ideally see yourself in your career in the next three to five years?
    - What do you think you need to reach the next level of your career?

    4. Mentoring Experience:
    - Have you already had an experience in mentoring? (If yes, describe your best professional experience as mentor or mentee)

    5. Program Motivation & Preferences:
    - Why are you applying to the Women in Business Mentoring Program?
    - Indicate 2 industries and preferred company size for your ideal mentor

    6. Additional Information:
    - Anything else the Women in Business Committee should know about your application?
